Why Yin Yoga Belongs in a Busy Week
Long, quiet holds can feel unfamiliar at first. Here is what to expect from Yin Yoga and how to make the most of the stillness.
Written by Anika Shah, Meditation & Breathwork

Yin Yoga is a slow practice of floor-based poses held for several minutes. If most of your week is fast, it offers a welcome change of pace.
What it feels like
Instead of moving with every breath, you settle into a pose and stay. The first minute can feel restless; by the third, many students notice their breathing slow down and their muscles soften.
Sensation should be moderate and steady. If anything feels sharp, come out a little or add another prop.
How to practise well
A few principles make Yin feel more comfortable.
Come into each pose slowly and find a shape you could stay in for several minutes.
Use bolsters and blankets generously; support helps you relax.
Stay as still as you comfortably can, adjusting whenever you need to.
Come out of each pose slowly and take a short rest before the next.
Pairing Yin with stronger classes
Yin works beautifully alongside more active styles. Try Express Power followed by Yin Yoga on a Tuesday or Thursday evening for a balanced practice.
